Blair Atholl Golf Club

Overview: Blair Atholl Golf Club is laid across Gary Player’s former farm in the Crocodile River Valley, where rolling meadows, mature trees and eleven water features create a broad parkland setting. The river crosses the estate and enters the strategy on several holes, while the scale of the property allows the course to stretch into long, open corridors before tightening around dams and greens. Its character comes from the meeting of a working landscape, large landing areas and demanding carries.

History: Gary Player bought the farm after it had belonged to the Douglas and Goodman families and spent years shaping the idea of a residential golf estate on land he knew intimately. The course was established in 2007, with Player designing most of the layout on his former home farm. The old farmhouse was demolished during the development, and the rubble was reused at the practice tee, preserving a small physical remnant of the property’s earlier life.

Did You Know? An oak tree planted by King George V during a 1947 visit to the Douglas farm still stands near Gary Player’s former house. The estate also records a distinctive “Blair Mile”: holes 14, 15 and 16 form three consecutive long par fours, with the Crocodile River appearing on eight holes across the course.
