Overview: Black Desert Resort is the Tom Weiskopf-designed course in Ivins, Utah, routed through black lava fields and the red-rock landscape of Greater Zion. The public resort layout uses volcanic outcrops, broad fairways, bunkered greens and changing canyon views to make the desert setting part of the strategy.
History: Black Desert was the final golf project associated with Tom Weiskopf, who died before the course was completed. The eighteen-hole course opened in 2023, with Phil Smith and the project team carrying the design forward.
Did You Know? The third hole includes a bunker set in the middle of the green, a design reference to Riviera's sixth. Several holes also use double-green and lava-field features that are unusual in desert golf.
