Black Mesa Golf Club

Overview: Black Mesa Golf Club is a public high-desert course in Española, New Mexico, on land associated with Santa Clara Pueblo. Baxter Spann routed the 18 holes through sandstone ridges, dry arroyos, native vegetation, and changing elevation, with mountain views around the property.

History: The course opened in 2003 and was designed by Baxter Spann. Its construction used the natural rock formations and topography of the site, creating separation between holes without relying on dense tree planting or large built structures.

Did You Know? Black Mesa's tenth and eighteenth holes were among the first locations Spann identified when he walked the property. Their shapes helped establish the routing before the rest of the course was finalized.
