Black Jack's Crossing Golf Course

Overview: Black Jack's Crossing at Lajitas is a Lanny Wadkins design in the Big Bend desert, where mesas, desert vegetation and the Rio Grande create a dramatic setting. The 18-hole course uses the rugged terrain and long sightlines to make wind, elevation and recovery angles central to the round.

History: The course opened in 2010 as part of Lajitas Golf Resort, carrying the name of General John J. Pershing, known as Black Jack. Its setting also draws on the long history of Lajitas as a trading-post community on the Rio Grande.

Did You Know? The resort's historic Lajitas Trading Post now houses the pro shop and a Longhorn Museum, tying the golf property to the settlement's frontier history.
