Overview: Black Horse is the coastal companion course to Bayonet at the former Fort Ord property in Seaside. The public layout uses Monterey Bay views, mature trees, elevation changes and military-era ground to create a distinct test from its neighbor. The name and setting connect the routing to the site's military history.
History: Black Horse was designed in 1964 by General Edwin Carnes as part of the Fort Ord golf facility. The Bayonet and Black Horse complex later came under City of Seaside ownership and was renovated as a public facility. Official information lists Black Horse as par 72 and about 7,024 yards.
Did You Know? Black Horse honors the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, known as the Blackhorse Regiment. The course shares 1 McClure Way with Bayonet, but it is a separate 18-hole routing with its own design history.
