Overview: At Birdwood, 18 holes play to par 71 across more than 220 acres in Charlottesville. Davis Love III, Mark Love, and Scot Sherman shaped the 7,116-yard parkland layout around woods, rolling ground, and historic estate scenery.
History: The original Birdwood course dates from 1984, but the current championship routing opened in 2020 after a major redesign. Love Golf Design led the work, incorporating new and renovated holes while preserving the property’s relationship with the Boar’s Head estate.
Did You Know? The closing holes are framed by Birdwood Mansion, a historic property built between 1819 and 1830. The mansion gives the finish a sense of place that goes beyond the golf course itself.
