Bintan Lagoon Resort & Golf Club (Jack Nicklaus)

Overview: The Jack Nicklaus Sea View Course is the ocean-facing half of Bintan Lagoon Resort’s 36-hole golf offering. It is an 18-hole, par-72 resort layout measuring about 7,046 yards from the championship tees, with five tee locations to make the course more adaptable. Jack Nicklaus used sculptured bunkers, the island’s natural contours and selected water hazards to build a course that feels open and scenic without being simple. The South China Sea is an active part of the experience, especially when wind changes the club required into the exposed holes.

History: The Sea View Course was developed in the mid-1990s as the first half of Bintan Lagoon’s paired resort-golf concept. Nicklaus Design lists the course as open in 1997, and Top100GolfCourses also records the two Bintan Lagoon courses as unveiled that year. The facility’s other 18-hole routing is the Ian Baker-Finch Woodlands Course, so the Sea View scorecard, designer and coastal strategy remain distinct. Current course records continue to identify both as operating resort layouts on Bintan Island.

Did You Know? The 12th is a par 3 with a South China Sea backdrop where Nicklaus Design warns that high winds can require several extra clubs. On the 13th, a stream runs through the middle of a split green, creating an unusual target that is as much a strategic puzzle as a visual feature. The closing hole then turns back to large bunkers and rolling mounds.
