Overview: The Mountains course at Bighorn Golf Club is a private Arthur Hills layout high above Palm Desert, California. Dramatic elevation changes, desert vegetation and downhill tee shots create wide views toward the Coachella Valley, The gold tees measure 6,904 yards on a par-72 layout.
History: The Mountains course opened in 1991 as Bighorn’s first 18-hole layout, years before Tom Fazio designed the separate Canyons course. Its position against the Santa Rosa Mountains gives the original course a more elevated, rugged character than the later companion routing.
Did You Know? The Mountains and Canyons courses are separated by California 74 and connected by an underground passage, an unusual piece of infrastructure for a two-course desert club.
