Beverly Country Club

Overview: Beverly Country Club is a private Chicago-area parkland course known for undulating ground, mature trees and the strategic green complexes associated with Donald Ross. The course plays to par 71 and 7,016 yards from the championship tees, an unusual combination of length and close-in history for a club so near downtown Chicago.

History: Beverly was founded in 1908 on the south side of Chicago. George O'Neil and Tom Bendelow were involved in the early layout, and Donald Ross created a master renovation plan in 1918 to bring the course back to major-championship standards. Beverly later hosted four Western Opens, the 1931 U.S. Amateur and the 2009 U.S. Senior Amateur.

Did You Know? Beverly's name is connected to its rolling setting, a rarity in the otherwise flatter Chicago landscape. The natural ridges and valleys were one reason Ross could create such a distinctive routing on a relatively compact urban-edge site.
