Belle Mare Plage Resort (Legend Course)

Overview: The Legend Course at Constance Belle Mare Plage offers 18 holes at par 72 in an indigenous forest on the east coast of Mauritius. Hugh Baiocchi's design uses tree-lined corridors, lakes and lagoons, shaped fairways and carefully guarded greens to create a championship route that feels rooted in its tropical setting. Constance lists the longest course distance at 6,018 metres, approximately 6,585 yards. The holes change character through the forest, with water and mature vegetation often defining the safest line from tee to green.

History: The Legend was built in 1994 as Belle Mare Plage's first championship course, before the resort added the separate Links Course in 2002. Baiocchi designed the layout to USPGA specifications and fitted it into a former deer-breeding reserve, preserving the wooded character that still defines the round. The course later became associated with senior professional golf and the long-running MCB Tour Championship, which has used the Belle Mare Plage property since 2009.

Did You Know? The par-three 17th is one of the Legend's visual highlights, with the tee set in the forest and water shaping the decision to the green. The property contains two distinct 18-hole courses: the Legend is the original par-72 layout, while the newer Links course has a par of 71 and a different design team. Keeping the two names separate matters when comparing course records or planning a round.
