Bell Nob Golf Course

Overview: Bell Nob Golf Course is a public 18-hole par-72 links-style course in Gillette, Wyoming, with a separate nine-hole par-three layout. The main course occupies open prairie terrain and relies on broad views, wind and the natural scale of the site rather than dense tree-lined corridors. Its 7,024-yard directory layout offers a traditional championship test, while the smaller course and practice facilities give the county-owned complex a strong community role. The setting is practical and distinctly regional: wide skies, changing weather and firm prairie ground are as important to the round as the bunkers and greens.

History: Campbell County records date Bell Nob to 1981 and note that the county purchased the facility from private owners in 1989. The original complex included an 18-hole links-style course, clubhouse and maintenance facilities. A nine-hole par-three junior course was added in June 2005, broadening the facility's role for younger players and shorter rounds. The Wyoming State Golf Association credits Dr. Al Paulsen as the creator, designer and founder of Bell Nob, a local contribution that explains why the course has remained closely tied to Gillette's golfing history. A new clubhouse was later developed as part of the county's continued investment in the site.

Did You Know? Bell Nob is more than one course: the county lists both the 18-hole championship layout and a nine-hole par-three course. The name is also sometimes written “Bell Knob” in older local records, but the county facility and current course use Bell Nob. The complex includes a driving range, putting greens, chipping area and clubhouse dining.
