Overview: Belgrade Lakes Golf Club sits on a 240-acre mountaintop site in central Maine. Clive Clark's public course follows the natural terrain, using timber, granite, elevation changes, and the surrounding lakes region to create a layout that feels connected to its setting.
History: The course was developed under Harold Alfond's vision of a country club that ordinary golfers could enjoy, and it opened in 1998. Clark's design keeps earthmoving restrained and lets the site's existing landforms do much of the architectural work.
Did You Know? The course is known for cross bunkering, a design feature that asks players to consider not only the direct line to the green but also the safest angle into the next shot.
