Beaverstown Golf Club

Overview: Beaverstown Golf Club offers a complete eighteen-hole parkland course in Donabate, north County Dublin, close to the Rogerstown estuary. The club’s course description says the layout covers about 140 acres and incorporates six lakes, a stream and mature apple trees left from the site’s orchard history. Water and the old trees are active parts of the round: the club notes that water or the stream comes into play on twelve holes, while orchards feature on eight. The published men’s card is par 72 at 5,972 metres, approximately 6,540 yards, with USGA-style sand-based greens.

History: The land was once associated with the Lamb Brothers fruit farm, known for Fruitfield jams. When the golf project was developed, the club retained Eddie Hackett to design the course, linking Beaverstown to the influential Irish architect’s wider body of work. The club celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2010, which provides a useful historical marker without requiring a more exact opening year than the sources establish. The current layout therefore combines a relatively young golf development with an older agricultural landscape.

Did You Know? The 14th hole is identified by Beaverstown as a signature hole and measures 411 yards from the stated tee. It is a good illustration of the course’s character: the hole is not defined by a famous tournament, but by the way the estuary setting, orchard remnants, lakes and engineered playing surfaces are combined into a coherent parkland round.
