Bearna Golf Club

Overview: Bearna Golf Club is a rugged and technical parkland-moorland course located in the heart of the Connemara landscape, just west of Galway City. Designed by Bobby Browne and opened in 1997, the layout was carved out of an authentic Connemara bog, utilizing the natural peat hazards and massive granite outcrops to create a uniquely Irish challenge. The course is characterized by its significant undulations and its exposed location, where the weather and the wild terrain combine to create a round that prizes creativity and local knowledge.

Did You Know? During construction, the designer chose to move as little earth as possible, preserving the natural "gorse and granite" character of the site. This minimal-interference philosophy resulted in several holes that feature large, unyielding rock formations in the fairways, demanding extreme precision and providing an authentically raw encounter with the untamed beauty of the Western coast.
