Overview: Bear’s Best Atlanta is a public Jack Nicklaus course in Suwanee, Georgia, built as a collection of eighteen holes selected from Nicklaus designs around the world. The parkland routing uses rolling ground, tree-lined corridors, bunkering and water to connect the individual hole concepts into one playable course.
History: Bear’s Best opened in 2002. Nicklaus selected holes from his broader design portfolio and adapted them to the Atlanta site, creating a course whose history is tied to the idea of a design anthology rather than one continuous original routing.
Did You Know? The opening hole is modeled after the tenth at St. Mellion, Nicklaus’s first design in Europe, while the course also includes holes associated with Muirfield Village, Sherwood and other Nicklaus designs.
