Bay Palms Golf Complex (South)

Overview: Bay Palms South is an 18-hole par-72 course at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa. Its tropical waterfront setting includes wetlands, tidal-influenced ground, and the low-lying coastal character associated with the Bay Palms complex.

History: MacDill records identify the South course as opening in 1986. It later closed for a substantial remodeling and reopened in 2013 after work that addressed drainage, beach restoration, invasive Brazilian pepper, and the playing surfaces, including paspalum greens.

Did You Know? The South course’s renovation was tied to the ecology of the base as well as to golf. The project restored shoreline and wetland functions while improving the course’s turf and drainage system.
