Overview: Bay Meadows sits only a few minutes from downtown Traverse City and offers a compact, welcoming version of northern Michigan golf. The directory routing is built from the facility’s Executive offering, while the operator describes the property as two distinct nines: the Blue course, a nine-hole regulation layout, and the Green course, a nine-hole par-three layout. That combination makes the facility useful for families, newer players and experienced golfers who want to practise specific shots without committing to a long resort round. Mature trees, rolling ground, practice greens and a substantial range give Bay Meadows a practical role in a Traverse City golf itinerary.
History: Bay Meadows was founded in 1995 with the aim of making golf approachable in the Traverse City area. The Husby family has kept that purpose central, and the current operator notes that Mike and Judy Husby have owned the facility since 2014. Mike Husby is also associated with course design work in northern Michigan, including Marsh Ridge and The Loon. Rather than presenting Bay Meadows as a conventional championship track, the current story is one of a family-run learning and practice centre that combines a regulation nine with a par-three nine and a year-round teaching focus.
Did You Know? An 18-hole visit here does not mean playing two identical nines. The facility pairs the Blue regulation nine with the Green par-three nine, so one visit can move from full-length approach strategy to short-game work while staying close to Traverse City.
