Bay Creek Resort & Club (Palmer)

Overview: Bay Creek's Palmer Course is an 18-hole Arnold Palmer design on Virginia's Eastern Shore, where Chesapeake Bay, Old Plantation Creek, dunes and marsh frame the golf. The championship routing measures 7,250 yards at par 72 and moves through a mixture of wooded land and open coastal ground. Four holes reach the Chesapeake shoreline and eight touch Old Plantation Creek, giving wind, sand and water a much larger role than the inland landscape might suggest. It is a coastal course with a deliberately varied visual rhythm.

History: Bay Creek was developed across historic Eastern Shore farmland as a golf community combining an 18-hole Palmer course with a separate nine-hole Nicklaus routing. The Palmer Course opened in 2001 and became the principal full-length layout on the property. The two designs should not be blended: the Palmer course has its own scorecard, architect and relationship with the shoreline, while the Nicklaus holes form a different nine-hole experience.

Did You Know? The Palmer Course has four holes on the Chesapeake Bay and eight on Old Plantation Creek. That is an unusually direct relationship with two major water bodies, and it explains why the course's coastal identity comes from the routing itself rather than from views seen only from the clubhouse.
