Barona Creek Golf Club

Overview: Barona Creek Golf Club is a public course located on the Barona Indian Reservation in Lakeside, California. Designed by Gary Roger Baird with Todd Eckenrode, the course features a spacious design with wide fairways, natural oak trees, and large lakes. The routing winds through a valley, offering views of the surrounding foothills and challenging players with strategic bunkering and firm playing surfaces.

History: Opened in 2001, the course was built to provide a championship golf experience alongside the Barona Resort. The design team focused on environmental sustainability, planting native oaks and using recycled water. In 2019, Eckenrode returned to renovate the bunkers and improve drainage, keeping the course in top condition.

Did You Know? The course has hosted major regional events, including the Korn Ferry Tour Championship. It is known for its extensive wildlife habitat, which includes nesting areas for native birds and water conservation areas that help support the local ecology of the San Diego backcountry. This focus on the environment has earned the club national recognition for its sustainable golf operations.
