Overview: Baoting Ningyuan Golf Club is a mountain and foothill course in the tropical interior of Hainan. The current course information describes an 18-hole, par-72 layout designed by Laurie of IMG, with 6,911 yards from the longest tees. Large changes in elevation, broad views and natural hill country give the routing a different rhythm from the coastal courses around Sanya. Water, steep approaches and uneven ground make club selection especially important.
History: The course opened in May 2012 after being planned across roughly 2,200 mu of hilly terrain. The current booking profile identifies the IMG connection and describes the routing as international standard, while also recording the course's platinum grass. No later redesign is documented in the sources reviewed, so the history stops with the opening and verified design brief.
Did You Know? The seventh hole is a short par four of about 313 yards with a dramatic drop in elevation. The same course information notes unusual hot-spring outlets near the hole, whose colours can change with the season. That combination of a drivable-looking hole, downhill perspective and geothermal landscape makes Ningyuan unusually specific.
