Bankenveld Golf Club

Overview: Bankenveld Golf Club sits beside Witbank Dam in Mpumalanga, where elevated tee positions and open water views give the course a distinctive setting. The current 18-hole layout was opened in 2010 and is credited to DDV Design Group. It plays to par 72 and measures about 6,295 metres from the back tees. The combination of rolling ground, large undulating greens and the dam-side horizon gives the round a more spacious character than a tightly enclosed town course.

History: Bankenveld was developed as part of a newer golf and residential destination around the dam rather than as one of the province’s old town clubs. The 2010 opening date therefore describes the present course and its modern planning. DDV Design Group’s routing uses the natural rise and fall of the site, with the surrounding Highveld landscape and reservoir helping establish the visual identity from the first tee onward.

Did You Know? The club’s elevated holes are not simply there for scenery. The higher teeing areas change the golfer’s view of the landing zones and make wind off Witbank Dam a relevant part of club selection. That lakeside exposure is one of the clearest features separating Bankenveld from an inland parkland course with no large water body nearby.
