Overview: Perched on the clifftops of Nigg Bay on the outskirts of Aberdeen, Balnagask Golf Course is a spectacular and historic 18-hole municipal layout. Originally designed by Archie Simpson in 1905 and significantly modified by the master architect James Braid in the 1920s, the course is a rugged hybrid of links and clifftop golf. The layout is characterized by its dramatic elevation changes, firm, fast-running fairways, and panoramic views of Aberdeen Harbour and the North Sea. Refined further in 1976 by the Hawtree Design Company, it offers a raw and invigorating round that highlights the wild beauty of the North East coast.
Did You Know? The course is situated on the Girdle Ness peninsula, home to the iconic Girdle Ness Lighthouse designed by Robert Stevenson. Golfers often experience the unique atmosphere of playing while large ships maneuver into the busy harbor just hundreds of yards below the clifftop fairways.
