Overview: Ballinasloe Golf Club is one of the oldest and most welcoming golf clubs in the West of Ireland, established in 1894. The current 18-hole championship course is a technical parkland layout that was significantly expanded and redesigned by Eddie Hackett in the 1980s. Set on naturally undulating terrain with mature tree-lined fairways, the course offers a fair and scenic test of golf, known for its strategic bunkering and the deceptive slopes of its well-maintained greens.
Did You Know? The club's transition from a 9-hole course to a full 18-hole layout was a major milestone for golf in East Galway, and it remains a central hub for the regional golfing community. The course is particularly noted for its natural "esker" formations—ridges of sand and gravel left by retreating glaciers—which provide unique and challenging elevation changes that are a hallmark of this part of the Irish landscape.
