Overview: Bali National Golf Club occupies the Nusa Dua resort area on Bali’s southern coast. Nelson & Haworth’s current layout is an 18-hole, par-71 course with several tee options, reaching 6,947 yards from the championship markers. The setting combines tropical vegetation with shaped fairways, lakes and carefully framed green approaches. It is a resort course, but the strategy is substantial: the routing uses water, changing angles and the visual pressure of the surrounding landscape to make position matter from tee to green.
History: The facility began operating in 1989 as Bali Golf & Country. PGI Bali records a temporary closure during renovation in 2011, followed by a 2014 reopening under the Bali National Golf Club name. The redesign was also shaped by the needs of the expanding Nusa Dua resort development. The architects changed the routing around new hotel and villa requirements, including converting the 17th and rebuilding the 18th farther from the sea, while retaining the site’s international championship role.
Did You Know? The course’s official scorecard publishes four distinct yardage bands, from 6,947 yards at championship length to 4,880 yards from the ladies’ tees. That range shows how the same routing can be set up very differently for tournament play and everyday rounds. During the redesign, the 17th was converted from a par 4 to a par 3 and the 18th was rebuilt farther from the sea, a rare example of resort development visibly changing a course’s closing holes.
