Overview: Located on the historic, oak-forested island of Ruissalo in Turku, Aura Golf is one of Finland's oldest and most prestigious parkland courses. The layout, originally designed by Pekka Sivula, features lush, undulating fairways framed by massive, centennial oak trees and natural rock outcroppings, with water hazards coming into play on several holes along the Baltic inlets. The small, fast putting greens and classic bunkers require precise distance control and strategic approach angles to secure a good score.
History: Founded in 1958, Aura Golf has played a prominent role in Finnish golf history, producing several national champions. The club's Ruissalo estate is a protected national park, ensuring that the course has preserved its pristine, natural character over the decades, while hosting numerous major national and international amateur championships.
Did You Know? The island of Ruissalo is famous for having one of the largest ancient oak forests in Finland, and players during autumn are treated to a spectacular, golden foliage display that makes Aura Golf one of the most beautiful walks in Europe.
