Athy Golf Club

Overview: Athy Golf Club is a mature and well-regarded parkland course located near the historic town of Athy in County Kildare. Established in 1906, the course underwent a significant transformation in the 1990s and later in 2003 with updates by Jeff Howes, resulting in a modern 18-hole championship layout. The course is known for its wide, inviting fairways but defends itself with several large water hazards and exceptionally large, undulating greens that require a high degree of touch and skill with the putter.

Did You Know? Despite being an inland parkland course, Athy is often praised for its "links-style" green complexes. These greens are significantly larger and more contoured than those found on typical Irish inland courses, a design choice intended to emulate the challenging putting surfaces of Ireland's famous seaside links, providing a unique hybrid experience for local golfers.
