Athenry Golf Club

Overview: Athenry Golf Club is a technical and atmospheric parkland-forest course located in Palmerstown, County Galway. Originally founded in 1902, the club moved to its current site in 1991, where the legendary Eddie Hackett carved a championship layout out of a dense commercial forest. The course is famous for its narrow, tree-lined fairways and the heavy timber that encloses almost every hole, creating a secluded and intimidating environment that prizes accuracy and placement over sheer distance.

Did You Know? Because the course was built on a site that was once a thick forest, many of the original trees were preserved, creating a "cathedral-like" feeling on several fairways.
