Atalaya Golf y Country Club (New Course)

Overview: Atalaya New Course is an 18-hole par-71 layout at Atalaya Golf & Country Club in Estepona, close to the Costa del Sol’s Marbella and Estepona hotel markets. Current federation and tourism records credit Paul Krings with the design and list 5,179 metres from the white tees, approximately 5,665 yards. The course is the shorter, more natural-feeling partner to Atalaya’s Old Course, with a setting that turns from the resort corridor toward the foothills and open views. Its par and length reward controlled placement and accurate iron play rather than relying only on driving distance.

History: Atalaya’s club record dates the facility to 1968 and identifies two separate 18-hole courses, the Old Course by Bernard von Limburger and the New Course by Paul Krings. The current tourism office presents them as a 36-hole destination near the beach and major hotels, with visitors able to play for a fee. Because the sources reviewed establish the club’s history but not a dependable New Course opening date, the profile leaves that field blank instead of transferring the Old Course’s 1968 date to the wrong routing.
