Asker Golfklubb

Overview: Asker Golfklubb sits on historical ground assembled from the farms Nedre og Øvre Hogstad, Vassås, and parts of Øvre Hagen. The golf area covers nearly 900 mål, with the course itself measuring about 550 mål. The layout is a par-72 links design that opened in 1993, sculpted by architect Peter Chamberlain. In winter 2000, the club purchased the course facilities, clubhouse, starting hut, and driving range, taking over all operations. The land remains one of the richest archaeological zones in the Asker district, with most ancient finds concentrated right here.

History: The zoning application to transform farmland into a golf course was submitted in July 1989. Asker Golfbane AS, formed by the affected landowners, built and operated the course until the year 2000. Peter Chamberlain was engaged as the course architect, and construction began in spring 1993. The club itself was founded a year earlier, on June 4, 1992. Total investment in the course before members bought their first shares at the end of 1993 was around kr. 17 million, with the full project, including clubhouse and parking, costing kr. 27.0 million.

Did You Know? Archaeological finds show that the first people in Asker lived and hunted on this very ground for up to 7,000 years, making every round a walk through deep prehistory.
