Arujá Golf Clube

Overview: Arujá Golf Clube is an active 18-hole course in Arujá, east of São Paulo, with a black-tee total of 7,020 yards and par 72. The club’s current course material describes seven natural and artificial lakes, Atlantic Forest species, pine, araucaria and Caribbean royal palms. Water and mature planting are not just background scenery here: they shape the sightlines and the landing areas, especially on the longer par fives. The course also has a driving range and a separate junior nine-hole facility, giving the club a broader practice identity than the main scorecard alone suggests.

History: Arujá Golf Clube was established on 29 June 1965 after the earlier Cruzeiro do Sul Golf Clube changed its name. The club’s official history records the first nine holes being ready in 1968, when the course hosted its first Intercolonial Golf Championship. The remaining nine holes were completed later, after the permanent clubhouse was established, so 1965 is retained as the club’s foundation date rather than being presented as the opening date of the modern 18-hole routing. This sequence explains why the club can have a long history without a single simple course-opening year.

Did You Know? The third hole is a 557-yard par five from the black tees, while the ninth is another long par five with trees and a lake beside the green. The official hole descriptions also single out the eleventh, where pine trees line both sides of a 412-yard par four. Together those holes show the course’s main theme: length matters, but the surrounding trees and water make the direction of the opening shot equally important.
