Anthem Golf & Country Club (Ironwood Course)

Overview: Ironwood is one of the two 18-hole courses at Anthem Golf & Country Club north of Phoenix. The club lists Greg Nash’s Ironwood routing as par 72 and 7,253 yards from the back tees. It is the more demanding of Anthem’s two courses, using desert foothills, seven water features, intimidating bunkers and a high-risk, high-reward sequence to test decision-making. The design still offers several tee positions, but its natural scale and water strategy give the Ironwood routing a distinctly championship feel within the Daisy Mountain community.

History: Ironwood opened in January 2004, five years after the Persimmon Course established Anthem’s original golf identity. The second course brought the property to 36 championship holes and gave the community two different expressions of Greg Nash’s desert design philosophy. The official club history presents both courses as part of the same broader development, but keeps their personalities separate: Persimmon is the more traditional routing, while Ironwood was built to provide the sharper challenge and the stronger demand for controlled aggression.

Did You Know? Anthem Alley is the club’s name for Ironwood’s 10th through 12th holes, a par-four, par-three and par-five sequence that plays around water. The three-hole stretch is a compact summary of the course’s risk-and-reward character.
