Anahita Golf Club

Overview: Anahita Golf Club plays 18 holes to a par of 72 on the east coast of Mauritius, in an Ernie Els design with the longest markers extending to 6,828 metres or 7,467 yards. The course uses a former sugar plantation, wide fairways, lagoons, dry-stone walls, links-style burns and mountain backdrops to create a tropical course with genuine strategic variety. Six holes bring the Indian Ocean and lagoon setting strongly into view, while the inland holes move through trees and more enclosed ground before returning toward the water.

History: Ernie Els unveiled Anahita Golf in 2008 as part of the resort's development on the east coast. The course was built to USGA standards and designed around the existing landscape rather than flattening it into a uniform resort grid. Its tournament history grew quickly: Anahita hosted the Mauritius Golf Masters in 2010 and 2011, then staged the 2016 and 2018 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, the first event to be sanctioned by the European Tour, Asian Tour and Sunshine Tour. Those events established the course as more than a scenic resort amenity.

Did You Know? Several of Anahita's design details are inherited from the site itself. Old dry-stone walls become strategic hazards, while narrow burns and grass-down bunkers add a links reference to the lagoon-side setting. The course also forms one half of a two-course golf destination: the separate Île aux Cerfs course, designed by Bernhard Langer, is reached by boat across the water.
