Overview: Located about 45 minutes from Porto in the Douro Litoral region, Amarante Golf Course is a spectacular mountainous layout perched at an altitude of 600 meters. Designed by Jorge Santana da Silva, the course is famous for its dramatic elevation changes and breathtaking views of the Marão mountain range. Because of the rugged terrain, the course is relatively narrow and requires precise shot-making and careful club selection, with seven par-3s providing a stern test of iron play in often breezy conditions.
Did You Know? The course's 4th hole is a signature par-4 that perfectly encapsulates the mountainous challenge: it features a daunting approach shot to a green that sits nearly 10 meters above the level of the fairway. Reaching the green in regulation requires a confident, high-launching shot, or players risk seeing their ball tumble back down the steep slope toward the landing area.
