Overview: Alta Vista Golf Country Club crowns Pardo Hills above Cebu City, roughly 500 feet above the nearby beaches. The club's 18-hole, par-72 course reaches 6,237 yards and was created by Gary Player's Black Knight Design Group. This is hillside parkland golf: the routing works across a compact upland site, with pronounced elevation changes, narrow corridors and views that repeatedly open toward Cebu and the surrounding islands. The course asks for distance control and thoughtful positioning as much as it asks for power.
History: Alta Vista was founded in 1994 through a joint venture between Sta. Lucia Realty & Development and the Aznar family of Southwestern University. The golf property occupies 60 hectares inside a much larger residential and leisure development, part of a plan to establish Cebu as a destination for club, recreation and tourism. The Black Knight commission was intended to make the course fit its rolling setting while preserving the visual connection with the city and coast.
Did You Know? The club describes Alta Vista as one of Cebu's popular venues for tournament championships, not merely a residential amenity. Its official account also emphasises the views from the course, while the scorecard profile shows a full par-72 routing despite the relatively contained yardage. The result is a course where a short-looking hole can still be demanding when the lie, elevation and angle into the green are all working against a careless shot.
