Overview: Alpine Golf Club is an 18-hole parkland course in Pathum Thani, north of Bangkok. Ron M. Garl transformed a flat rice-growing landscape into a more varied setting of raised ground, water and broad, contoured fairways. The club lists a par of 72 and a championship length of about 7,100 yards, with strategic bunkering and water shaping decisions throughout the round.
History: Alpine opened in 1996 and quickly entered Thailand's tournament story. The course has hosted the Asian Games golf competition and the Johnnie Walker Classic, as well as Thailand Open events. Its defining construction idea was the creation of elevation on land that had originally been a flat rice paddy.
Did You Know? The course was built to make artificial elevation feel like a natural part of the landscape. The official club history specifically points to the conversion of flat rice fields into hills, which explains why Alpine feels more topographically varied than many Bangkok-area courses.
