Ålesund Golfklubb

Overview: Ålesund Golfklubb sits on the Solnør peninsula just outside Ålesund in Skodje municipality, a setting often called one of Norway's most scenic golf courses. The 18-hole layout stretches across a coastal landscape that feels open and windswept, with views that shift between fjord and mountain. The club also operates a six-hole course and driving range at Moa, plus indoor simulators for winter practice. With nearly 1,000 members ranging from four-year-olds to players nearing 90, the club positions itself as a regional hub for lifelong golf.

History: The club was founded on March 21, 1990, after Olgar Bolseth returned from Australia and pushed to start golf in Ålesund. Early training grounds shifted from Gåseidmarka in 1990 to Aksla stadion in spring 1991, then to Solnør Gaard in autumn 1991, and Langeland from 1992 to 2001. Solnør Gaard Golfbane AS was established on November 29, 1991, with Stein Mittet as chairman, and financing was completed early in 1993. Construction followed, and the course officially opened in 1995 as a nine-hole layout, later expanded to 18 holes.

Did You Know? For the first time in the club's history, a combined tournament is being attempted that links play on the Solnør course with the indoor simulators at Moa. The idea blends the open-air links feel of Solnør with the precision of simulator golf, creating a hybrid competition format. This tournament marks a new chapter in how the club connects its two distinct playing venues. It reflects the club’s willingness to experiment with how golf is experienced across different seasons and settings.
