Alastaro Golf

Overview: Located near Loimaa in southwestern Finland, Alastaro Golf is an 18-hole parkland course designed by Kosti Kuronen. Routed across a unique sandy ridge system, the layout features wide fairways bordered by mature pine forests, natural sand dunes, and large putting greens. The course offers a highly playable and strategic experience, where players must navigate rolling sandy hollows and strategically positioned sand traps.

History: Opened in 2006, the course was built on the Harjureitti ridge system, a protected geological formation formed during the last ice age. Kuronen carefully routed the 18 holes to preserve the natural sandy contours. The sandy soil is so porous that the course has exceptional natural drainage, allowing it to remain completely dry even during the wettest Scandinavian shoulder seasons.

Did You Know? Due to its sandy foundation and mild microclimate, the course is often one of the very first in southwestern Finland to open its summer greens each spring. The Harjureitti area is also a popular nature recreation reserve, featuring miles of hiking and cross-country skiing trails bordering the fairways.
