Al Houara Golf Course

Overview: Al Houara Golf Course is an 18-hole coastal layout between Tangier and Asilah, set on the Atlantic edge of a protected forest. Graham Marsh and Vijay Singh shaped a broad, resort-style course where the ocean, dunes, sandy ground and low vegetation provide the visual framework. The fairways are generally generous, but greens defended by bunkers and water ask for thoughtful approaches. The flat terrain does not make the round automatic: wind from the Atlantic and the changing angles into the putting surfaces give the course its strategic character. The directory records a par of 72 and 6,900 metres, while the resort presents the same distance in its course information.

History: Al Houara opened its 18-hole course in June 2021 as the centrepiece of a larger resort development. The project added a compact nine-hole facility, practice areas and hospitality around the main course, making the site part of the expanding Tangier golf destination. From the start, the course was positioned for both resort play and organized competition, with the design team’s two-player pedigree reflected in a layout that combines accessible landing areas with more exacting green-side targets.

Did You Know? The main course sits within a complex that also includes a lit nine-hole short layout. That pairing gives Al Houara two very different rhythms: a full Atlantic round shaped by wind and scale, and a shorter format designed around practice, quick play and evening golf.
