Akkermans Leisure & Golf

Overview: Akkermans is proof that a par-3 course can still deserve serious attention. The holes are short, but the layout is cleverly shaped with water, movement in the greens and multiple teeing options that make the course far more interesting than a quick glance suggests. It is ideal for learning the game, but just as useful for sharpening wedges and distance control. Relaxed, welcoming and surprisingly exacting, it is a very smart little layout.

History: The course opened in 2009 and was designed by Michiel van der Vaart of Jol Golf Design. It is a 9-hole par-3 layout set in the polder landscape of the Brabantse Wal, near the village of De Heen in the province of North Brabant. The site is part of the Akkermans family leisure and events business, which also offers driving range and practice facilities.

Did You Know? Although it is officially a 9-hole par-3, different teeing grounds create 18 distinct looks, which is a big part of its charm. The course measures 1,335 metres from the yellow tees (par 27) and the same from the red tees. Juniors up to age 21 receive a 25% discount on green fees.
