Overview: Aiken Golf Club in Aiken, South Carolina, is a historic public parkland course originally designed by Donald Ross and John Inglis. Winding through sandhills and mature pine forests, the course features rolling fairways, small greens, and sand waste areas.
History: Originally opened in 1912, the course has a rich history as one of the oldest in the South. It was designed to serve the winter tourists in the Aiken area. In 1999, Jim McNair Jr. led a complete restoration that restored the classic Ross-style greens and natural sandy wastes, returning the course to its historic character.
Did You Know? The club was a pioneer in women's golf, hosting the first women's professional tournament in the South in 1937, featuring legendary players like Babe Didrikson Zaharias.
