Abu Dhabi Golf Club - National Course

Overview: Abu Dhabi Golf Club's National Course is an 18-hole, par-72 championship layout designed by Peter Harradine across 162 hectares in Khalifa City. Its lush fairways and generous greens stand out against the surrounding desert, while lakes, bunkers and carefully shaped landing areas create the strategic structure. The course is known for its long, sweeping holes and tournament-scale presentation, but the most recognisable feature is the Falcon Clubhouse, whose outstretched form overlooks the closing part of the course. History: Harradine designed the course in 1998 and it opened to golfers in February 2000. Construction of the distinctive clubhouse and golf facility had begun in the mid-1990s, part of Abu Dhabi's early effort to establish a major international golf destination. The club's inaugural professional event was the European Seniors Tour Final, and the venue later became the long-running home of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, hosting 16 consecutive editions. That tournament history helped turn the National Course into one of the defining venues of golf in the UAE.

Did You Know? The Falcon Clubhouse was designed so that all three of its floors could enjoy prominent views of the ninth and 18th holes. Its silhouette is more than a visual landmark: the building was planned around the golf, with the final holes and the water in front of it forming the central scene. It is one of the clearest examples of a clubhouse becoming part of a course's identity.
