Overview: Bayou/Lakeview is one of the 18-hole combinations formed from the three regulation nines at A. C. Read Golf Club on Naval Air Station Pensacola. The routing moves through the longleaf-pine and live-oak setting of the base, with the Bayou nine associated with the surrounding salt-water bayous and Lakeview with its tree-lined fairways.
History: The facility grew from an original course opened during the Second World War. Nine holes were added in 1962 under architect William W. Amick, creating a 27-hole regulation complex. In 2003, Pensacola native Jerry Pate and his team renovated the complex while retaining its established routing through the naval station landscape.
Did You Know? A. C. Read is not a single fixed 18-hole layout: Bayou, Lakeview, and Bayview are three distinct nines that can be combined into different 18-hole routes. The course is named for Rear Admiral Albert Cushing Read, an early Pensacola naval aviator and former base commander.
